Can the corn remover pads help get rid of corns?

The corn remover pads are frequently used to treat all sorts of corns on the toes. These corn pads contain an acid (usually salicylic acid) which is supposed to eat or destroy the corn to get rid of it. The issue is that they do not always work like that for two: the acid used in the corn remover pads has no way of knowing what is a corn and what is normal skin, so it is just eat away whatever you put it on, including the normal skin. Corn remover pads also do not treat the cause of the corn and unless that is dealt with, even if the corn remover pad does successful remove some of the corn, it is going to grow back. This can be dangerous if you have something like diabetes. They only way to get rid of corns forever would be to deal with what was causing the corn in the first place, which is the excessive pressure on the area.
