Cracked heels are a fairly common disorder affecting the skin around the heel where the skin splits and it can become painful and might even get infected. They usually happen when the skin around that area becomes drier and thicker, so can easily split. This dry cracked skin will not usually heal and puts pressure on the normal skin below and may ‘crack’ that skin.
