Cracked heels

What to do about cracked heels?

Cracked heels are a fairly common disorder affecting the skin around the heel where the skin splits and it can become painful and might even get infected. They usually happen when the skin around that area becomes drier and thicker, so can easily split. This dry cracked skin will not usually heal and puts pressure on the normal skin below and may ‘crack’ that skin. The treatment of cracked heels is to remove that callused thicker and dryer skin and then use creams to soften the skin to make it more flexible.
