Functional Hallux Limitus

by Admin on March 14, 2012

Functional Hallux Limitus is a common problem of function at the first metatarsophalangeal joint of the foot. It is a unique condition in that it only occurs when the foot is weightbearing and there is a normal range of motion at the joint when the foot is non-weightbearing, hence the name ‘functional’. The management of functional hallux limitus is to use foot orthotics that facilitate the range of motion at the joint.
